Which States Ban or Restrict Cellphones in Schools?

June 28, 2024 · Education Week (state policy tracker) · Read the original ↗

Education Week's running tally of school phone policy: at least 39 states plus the District of Columbia now require K-12 schools to restrict student cellphone use, and 29 states plus DC require bell-to-bell policies. What began as individual school rules is now near-national education policy (tally as checked October 19, 2026; the tracker updates continuously).
