Look Up THE LOOK: This Week
A close look every week at the science, news, media and more, inspiring the world to… Look Up.

Text Neck & Posture — the latest science

The head's average weight is 10–12 pounds, and it is balanced beautifully — in neutral. Every degree of forward tilt multiplies the load the neck and spine must carry, in both directions along the chain: posture shapes breath and nerve flow, and breath and nerve flow shape posture. Tech Posture Syndrome is the book's name for what sustained collapse does to structure, breathing, and cognition — and it is adaptation, which means it can be adapted back.
